Buyers of Canadian Grain

Responsible Grain gives buyers of Canadian grain confidence that the crop was produced following best practices for environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Responsible Grain was developed using the best available science and a transparent, consensus-based approach via consultation with a broad range of stakeholders, including farmers, scientists, customers, and non-government organizations with an interest in agricultural sustainability. This helps ensure the Code of Practice is supported by partners.

While participation by farmers is voluntary, Responsible Grain fosters continuous improvement in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and economic viability.

Now that the draft Code has been developed, the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops is launching a formal consultation process that will run from November 2020 – February 2021. These consultations are a critical part of the process. The input will be used to review the Code to ensure it is practical at the farm level and responds to the interests of consumers and grain buyers.

Stakeholder feedback is important to us, and consultations with grain buyers will be done virtually through web-based meetings. For more information and to get involved, please contact the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops:
